Council Member J. Mark Jackson (2014 – present)
Born: Fayetteville, NC April 4th 1968
Raised: Dunn, NC. Moved to Archer Lodge in 1993 (that was a quick as I could get here)
Army Service: I joined the United States Army February 24th 1987, and retired with 26 years of service as a First Sergeant (E-8). During my time in the military I was always an infantryman. I served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division where I deployed to “Operation Just Cause” in 1989, and “Operation Desert Shield/Storm” in 1990. In 1991 I joined the North Carolina National Guard where I spent the remainder of my career with the 30th Brigade Combat Team (BCT) “Old Hickory”. As a member of the 30th BCT I deployed as a Platoon Sergeant for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)II, and First Sergeant for OIF 09-10. During my time with the 30th BCT I also participated in several hurricane relief efforts from Emily through Fran and Floyd.
Education: I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Cum Laude) with a concentration in Human Resources from the Poole College of Management at NCSU.
Community Service: I am a member of the Archer Lodge Community Center. I organize both the Family Fun Day Fun Run, and the Fun Day parade, and help with what I can. I was on the Archer Lodge Municipal Exploratory Committee. I was Co-chair for the Steering Committee for the Planning Board of Archer Lodge, and I am on the Veterans Committee. I am a member of VFW Post 10225 in Garner, and 30th Infantry Division Association.
Church Service: I attend White Oak Baptist in Archer Lodge. I am a High School Sunday Small Group teacher, Youth Small Group leader, and a deacon there. I also organize our Adopt A Highway Program as well as act as the point man for our annual river clean up.
Family: My wife’s name is Liz Jackson, my son is John Jackson.
