John Buzzelli

Council Member John Buzzelli (Appointed: 2024)

Born: Franklin, Pa May 28th, 1959

Raised: Webster, NY. Moved to Archer Lodge in 2020.

Education: I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from SUNY Empire State College (State University of New York at Empire State College) and an Associates in Science Degree in Industrial Electronics Technology from NSU (Norfolk State University).

Professional Certifications: Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma in Electromechanical Systems from Air Academy Associates at Xerox. I hold twelve US Patents based on Xerographics and 3-D printing.

Professional Career: I retired from Xerox Corporation after 31 years in 2016 as a subject matter expert in Transfer Xerography. After Xerox I had a consulting business working in transfer xerographics research for an international business machine company called BMP.

Navy Service: I joined the United States Navy September 27th, 1982, and was Honorably Discharged as an AQ2 (Aviation Fire Control Second Class Petty Officer) (E-5) on September 26th, 1986. In 1983 I was ships company aboard the USS Nimitz CVN-68.  As part of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force, we served in the Gulf of Sidra off the coast of Libya and in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Beirut Lebanon. During this deployment, the US embassy in Beirut was bombed. My last three years were at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia in F-14 Squadron VF-101 “Grim Reapers”. I worked on F-14 weapons systems, as a plane captain on the flight line, and as a shooter on the catapults, launching F-14 aircraft off the carrier.

Community Service: I was a member of the Archer Lodge Community Center for three years where I was selected as Volunteer of the year two years in a row. I helped with family fun day, parades, breakfasts, reverse raffles, working the concession stand during ball games, set up and optimized the audio system in the building, and did various projects on the building and grounds. I spent a year tending the ball fields at the middle school and the Community Center until the town took over that work. While I never had to do all of this at the same time it included mowing the grass on three baseball fields and three soccer fields, and grading and lining three baseball fields. I just recently joined White Oak Baptist Church Caregivers. I occasionally help out at the Senior Luncheons every other Tuesday. I try to help out anybody where I am needed in the community.

Church Service:  My wife Sueanne and I belong to St Ann Catholic Church in Clayton where we attend church regularly. I am active in the charitable organization Knights of Columbus doing community work.
